Somehow, I just can't watch Michael Voris. Not that I tend to disagree with the points he makes; it's rather that somehow his presentation does not agree with me. After being subjected to him on the blogosphere for a few months, I'm finally coming around to an opinion. Perhaps it's that I find five minutes of a talking head on television (with bullet-points for emphasis as though this were a business meeting) far less interesting than a well-written essay. It seems more like the presentation that a Protestant televangelist would use.
That said, though, I find your site absolutely glorious. Thank you for the important service you provide to those of us who are not able to attend a TLM daily due to geography.
Like you said, you can't fault the content. I haven't found anything in his short presentations with which I disagree. I think his criticism of our Catholic leadership, modernism and liberalism in the modern Church, and the assimilation of Protestantism is spot on.
However, I do understand what you are saying about his presentation, and I have to agree that I thought pretty much the same thing when I first heard about RealCatholic.TV. It seemed "cheap" to me, like those safety videos that new hires in factories have to watch.
However, there are a couple of things that I've grown to appreciate about the presentation style.
First, they are short and to the point, which makes them great for young people. This format is much more attractive and useful especially for teens whose parents find that they simply won't stay interested in long talks, conferences or learned essays. These short presentations can help reinforce what traditional parents are teaching their teens.
Second, they can be produced quickly and inexpensively. I've heard through the grapevine the incredibly limited operating budget of RealCatholic.TV, and I think it is simply outstanding that they can stretch these resources to do so much. A more flashy format means longer production time, which I don't think serves the purpose for which they are intended. These may not be devastating right hooks, but they are extremely effective jabs and punches that are weakening the leftist hold on the modern Church.
Thanks for visiting the blog and leaving such a kind compliment. I really appreciate it. God bless!
