Before and After

Here is a comparison of Saint James church in Seaforth, Ontario, Canada before Vatican II and after the post Vatican II wreckovations. This church was built in 1869.

Here is a photo from the 1950's of the church interior

And here is a photo of the interior as it appears today

  2. Wow, they don't call it "wreckovation" for nothing.

How did they sell this to the parishioners? "Yeah, we're going to take down the high altar, whitewash the ceiling details, remove both side altars, the angel statues and the statues of Our Lady and St Joseph. But we'll keep the lights AND you'll get nifty felt banners! And posters!"

On the bright side, the tabernacle appears to at least have stayed front and center.

  3. Nope, the tabernacle is off to the Epistle side apse on the old mensa of Saint Joseph's altar. The original baldacchino from the old high altar is over the new tabernacle. What you see in the center behind the original high altar mensa, is a few remnants of the old reredos that were kept.

  4. So let me guess. What we see behind the novus ordo mensa is Father's throne, right?

  5. Yes, the infamous "presiders chair" as the modernists love to call it.
