*Transalpine Redemptorists react to Bishop Williamson's comments about their present situation, which is much better than His Excellency contends it is.
*Talmudic Judaism isn't opposed to Christianity? Jewish leaders aren't against a Rome-SSPX reconciliation? Since when?? It is impossible to speak about Jews as enemies of the Church? Well, Father, who do you think it was that stoned St. Stephen? When St. Stephen forgave his enemies, if it wasn't the Jews throwing the stones he forgave, then who exactly did he forgive?? Fear of the Jews has replaced the fear of God for these people. The SSPX reacts to the antisemitism canard.

1st Thess: For you, brethren, are become followers of the churches of God which are in Judea, in Christ Jesus: for you also have suffered the same things from your own coutrymen, even as they have from the Jews, Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and the prophets, and have persecuted us, and please not God, and are adversaries to all men;
ReplyDeleteThe past one-half century of the Catholic Church's novel (and political) cultivation of a friendship of naturalism with The Jews has rendered us dumb when it comes to the truth that they remain the enemies of Holy Mother Church.
In a few months the NFL will conduct is yearly draft and we will be told that tiny Joe from Kokomo is the fastest in all of the land; but the fastest in all the land every single year is the Catholic who rushes to be the first to denounce as anti semitic that Catholic who treats of the Jews as has been ecclesiastical praxis up until the 1960s.
In doing so, the accuser hopes to earn the laurel of exculpation from the Jews as one of their friends who they will identify as one not bearing the anti semitic mark of cain.
It is, frankly, disgusting to see the Church militant bowing and scraping before her ancient and permanent enemies but as the example of doing just that has been set by our last two Popes, I guess one ought not be surprised.
Of course, racism is a sin and so there can be no acceptable act of anti semitism on the part of any Catholic but to identify the Jews as the enemy of the Catholic Church is morally and spiritually accurate and part of Tradition.
Voltaire was wise when he counseled - To find out who rules over you, just see who you are not allowed to criticise.
BIshop Fellay ought not have apologised; he missed a "teaching moment;" he could have cited the Early Church Fathers - especially Saint John Chrysostom -and for a more recent example he could have cited the great Rafael Cardinal Merry del Val and Pope Saint Pius X who, in my mind anyway, remain as THE examples of how to deal honestly with the Jews.
During the glorious reign of the great Pope Saint, Amici Israel had formed and many Prelates and Priests petitioned the Holy See to change the prayers our the Immemorial Traditional Mass so as to satisfy the Jews and the faithful Cardinal not only refused the request, he ordered Amici Israel to disband.
The stalwart Catholic heroes maintained warm personal relationships with Jews but they would not change one thing about Holy Mother Church to suit her enemies.
In fact, when our Great Pope Saint Pius X met with the Zionist, Theodor Herzl, he spoke honestly why the Catholic Church would not recognise Israel (you don't recognise Jesus we won't recognise you) and when Mr. Herzl tried to lay a guilt trip on the great Pope about maltreatment of the Jews, etc, he sloughed it off, observing that the Jews had three centuries to accept Jesus without any coercion...
We sheep have been abandoned by our Head Shepherd when it comest o our ancient and permanent enemy
What about the enemies of the Church within the Church? Who was it who said something about the wolves within and the lambs without? When I was in seminary, the seminarians persecuted there suffered said persecution from within the walls of the seminary, not from without the walls. Not every last Jew is the enemy of the Church. I have had friends of the Jewish faith with far more respect for the Church than many Catholics I've met. Christ Himself was Jewish, and a faithful one at that, as was His Mother and foster father. It might help to look within our own household of faith before we start speaking of others as perfidious. Sure, one wrong doesn't negate another wrong, but if it not for the Jewish People, we wouldn't have the Bible, among other things. While I don't agree with grovelling and with politically correct tap dancing exercises, I think we should show some gratitude to our Jewish brothers and sisters. Anyone who wishes to take me to task, please do so. I write with sincerity and good will, and mean no harm.
ReplyDeleteDear Mr. Glassmeyer. According to the law of return in Israel, one ceases to be a Jew if he converts to Catholicism whereas one remains a Jew if he converts to Buddhism. That alone ought tell you what is a stake here.
ReplyDeleteI understand your reluctance to describe Jews as the enemy of the Catholic Church as our entire culture is suffused with fear of the Jews - but, what about the teaching of Saint Paul, his own self a Jew, in 1st Thess?
Dear Mr. Glassmeyer. I posted the above in a hurry just before I went to Mass. Yes, the Jews, (as were the Nazis) are our brothers in the sense we are all the children of God but not in the sense that we are brothers in Christ; and don't forget that Jesus said to the Jews claiming racial superiority by referencing that they were descendants of Abraham, Jesus said, Nope, you are sons of the devil.
ReplyDeleteThe answer to your objections are contained in my original post as both Rafael Cardinal Merry del Val and the great Pope Saint Pius X had warm personal relations with individual Jews but both held to Catholic Tradition that Jews qua Jews - Because they reject Jesus - are enemies of Holy Mother Church.
I know this is prolly shocking for you to read because Holy Mother Church has surrendered to the racial superiority of the Jews and/or silenced her voice of Catholic Tradition. I will post two links I know you will find shocking but they are merely representative of our Catholic Tradition; they are links to articles in the Pope's Paper, Catholic Civilisation, and one can not imagine that such truths would be published today which, in and of itself, is evidence that today's Papal political praxis is completely severed from Catholic Tradition:

Dear I am not Spartacus,
ReplyDeletePlease call me Bob...Mr. Glassmeyer is my dad! :) Thank you for sharing with me your thought; it is well said. I didn't realize one remains Jewish if one converts to Buddhism. It reminds me of what a friend once told me; "You can pretty much believe anything you want and still belong to the Episcopal Church." (My friend is Episcopalian) I'm not trying to digress here, but when you mentioned what is at stake, it made me think of this.
Years ago I read what Rabbi Harold Kushner said about "Messianic Jews"; he maintained that these people are, properly speaking, not Jews, but Christians. I'm not sure what I think about this just now, but it is an interesting point.
God love you!
Here's an interesting piece by John Vennari on the subject: http://www.sspx.org/miscellaneous/judaism_and_church_before_and_after_vatican_ii_vennari-1-11-2013/judaism_and_church_before_and_after_vatican_ii_vennari-1-11-2013.htm
ReplyDeleteDear Mr Werlimng. The SSPX website used to carry several several articles about Jews and Judaism anchored in the Catholic Traditional thinking about judaism but they were scrubbed (about four of them as I recall) roughly around the time that negotiations for reunion with Rome were thought to be advancing in a positive direction.
ReplyDeleteI was delighted to see that they posted Vennari's piece for it is right in line with Catholic Tradition.
Now, Mr Vennari is much more intelligent and informed than am I but I wish he had noted that Holy Mother Church speaks collectively about Jews when she speaks of the Blessings of the Jews but speaks individually about Jews on those rarest of occasions when she speaks a negative word about Jews (you know, the Curses). It is painfully obvious that when it comes to The Jews, there is a dramatic disconnect twixt the pre and post V2 Church.
It is an easy modern political praxis to learn - Blessings, Si, Curses, No. - and woe betide that Prelate or Priest who does not toe the political line. And the modern papal praxis is so dramatically disconnected from classic Catholic Theology that I was sort or surprised that when I went to Rome that the statue of Saint John Chrysostom remained as one of four statues (Drs of the East and West) given places on honor on the Altar of the Papal Chair.
And as it is the case that Holy Mother Church speaks about no other race/religion in such a manner, it is likely that praxis exists because she bows to the putative racial superiority of the Jews.
