TradNews Roundup

*Habemus Papam... Oh my! Traditionalists! Back to the Catacombs! And NO! There is no TLM in the Archdiocese of Buenos Aires, and Bergoglio DID trample on the desire of the faithful of the Archdiocese of Beunos Aires for the TLM.

The real story here is not so much that traditionalists are attacking the election of Bergoglio. After all, who could have been blindsided by that? The Cardinals that elected him? They knew full well who they were electing AND how traditionalists would react. Don't kid yourselves. This election was intended, at least in part, to put a squash on the Vatican-SSPX "talks", and, in addition, any notion that traditionalists were to be taken seriously.

The real story, at least for me, is the fact that we traditionalists have learned the hard way that we are far outnumbered by enemies, and those enemies include the "Reform of the Reform" crowd, and they are perhaps even more vehemently our enemies than the liberals. New Catholic of Rorate Cæli was called the equivalent of an hysterical liar for simply pointing out the TRUTH that Summorum Pontificum was thwarted by Bergoglio, and that there is NO Traditional Latin Mass in the Archdiocese of Buenos Aires. While one internet priest apologized for this accusation and spreading misinformation, Pope Z hasn't, and probably won't. Traditionalists point out the obvious truths about Pope Francis, and we are maligned for doing so, and why? Because we challenge the mainstream's golden calf, which is a selfish clinging to Modernism under the guise of obedience.

Father Finigan writes: "As is probably fairly obvious, I am trying to post as many positive things about Pope Francis as I can."

Why? Did he feel like he had to find and say positive things about Ratzinger after his election? Why does Fr. Finigan think that he has to do that if he doesn't realize, deep down inside, that there is something to dread about this election?

By the way, there are even some traditionalists who are still peddling the misinformation. For example, as of right now The Remnant Newspaper still has a link in their sidebar to an out of date article about the "implementation" of Summorum Pontificum in Buenos Aires. Mr. Matt needs to get that corrected, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt since he is still in the Roman fog.

Here's the overly positive traditionalist perspective (that is straining not to be considered "Radtrad"):

*And... since we have already mentioned His Holiness, Pope Z... I dare him to suggest this to the Schismatics, Protestants... or Jews. Exactly why should the SSPX at this moment come crawling up to the Pope? Hasn't that already happened? How many times was Fellay summoned Rome? How many times did he disobey and not go to Rome when called? The fact of the matter is that Bishop Fellay would drop everything and go to Rome if (when?) Pope Francis were to call him. The problem is, Pope Francis is too busy calling the local synagogues to be bothered with calling the SSPX. It's a matter of priorities, you know?

*Will Pope Z, Fr. Finigan, or Shawn Tribe show any concern for Monsignor Marini, or will they simply bend their notion of the Reform of the Reform to fit the new altar arrangements? Change is in the air, for good for bad, we will soon see.

*Slate: Pope Francis could be a "Catholic Nightmare".

*The people's table is carted back out, along with the polyester vestments. So much for the Reform of the Reform. I guess the NeoCats will have to dream another impossible dream.

*Pope Bergoglio's ecumenism on display:

*Did Pope Bergoglio hand over names to the Argentine death squads? Some Leftists say yes, and you know the journalists smell blood.Way to go Cardinal Electors! You all might want to pick up your brains on the way back to the airport, they are sitting on the ground, next to the faith you lost.
*It took the Huff-Post less than twelve hours to pick up the story!
*Setting the stage for two papal resignations in one year?
     *Salon picks up the story.
     *Oops, there goes another story.
*Huh-Oh, you know it's serious when Patheos deigns to treat it!
*Hugh, that jovial and lovable pope assassin at The Guardian!
*Ingersoll is always taking the dirty shot.
Caution! Consider the source. The accusations are coming from the Leftists, and there's really very little substantial evidence outside of a single journalist's claims, but that really isn't the point. The media is going to run with this, and it has the potential to cripple this pontificate from the first. This is the reason why I thought the Cardinal Electors would never elect a man from South America or Africa, because they are hotbeds of Marxism and all the problems that entails (among other things). The Cardinals either knew they were taking this risk and thought it was worth it, or they are kind of... well... you know.

  2. Mr. Werling I don't have time to check out all your links in Trad-round-up at this precise moment, but I just want you to know that I appreciate your articles and insights very much. I am very unsettled still - nonetheless, with hope and complete trust in Our Blessed Lord's words.
Just a thought of mine. Maybe Father Z. appealed to the FSSPX for the second time in that extreme manner because he realises how much the Church needs them. Could be?

I certainly hope that we Catholics stop attacking each other with insults - and stick to principles and well-thought-out criticism backed up with facts, which is why I like to read your blog.

We have a lot to digest - may Our Lord and His Holy Mother be near and help us all through these perplexing and a bit scary times.

  3. Anon,

The SSPX is serving Our Lord and His Holy Church right now. I do not think you meant it this way at all, but your comment could imply that they are not actually doing so. They cannot point out the problems with Vatican II and the whole revolution inside the Church during and following, under modernist Bishops. I usually go to an ICRSS Church, and there is much good going on there, but you can be sure that there is nothing from them about the errors of Vatican II, the un-Catholic nature of the New Order of Mass, the really divisive social issues, and so forth.

  4. Mr. Rose,
You are right I did not mean to imply that the FSSPX is not serving Our Lord and His Church (there is only so much you can say in a little comment) - but there is the problem of their canonical status, that's all I meant. It would be wonderful if they were fully regulated, which would be a great grace for the whole Church and me personally who is relatively new to Traditional Catholicism. I pray a Memorare everyday for the FSSPX situation. I know they are solid and I love Archbishop Lefebrve's writings. One feels safe with Catholic Tradition. I am tired , so very tired of the Post-conciliar Church and its multifaceted heresy and confusion - and sense in myself now, after the events of this week - that I have distanced myself even further from it. Another thing that I cannot get my head around (sorry if I am thick) is how one can be so devoted to the Most Holy Mother Of God - the destroyer of all heresies - and continue with the modernist mess? Ecumenism (in the post-conciliar sense) is the Enemy of the Immaculate as St. Maximilian Kolbe said. No-one has yet answered this question satisfactorily for me. It's a conundrum.

  5. I read what Fr. Z., wrote..........this priest, is so full of himself, so in love with his writings. Blindness and Pride is his name.......... He is a perfect example of the so-called 'Novus Ordo' evangelization. Blind is leading the blind......they refuse to face the 'truth' regarding the infiltration in the Holy Church......from the TOP, to the bottom. As if these conciliar popes, had their hands clean........no blood, no filth, no guilt......Miserere! By their false ecumenicsm, destruction of the 'Sacred Liturgy'.....etc........they participated in and promoted all the innovations, they are the reason of the division among us Catholics, they are the reason of 'exodus' to Protestant sects, they are the reason of so many lost souls.....etc. Just do some research, and see how many countries since Vatican II, have become atheistic countries, how many sects it has produced.......thousands. If, these conciliar popes, feared God, loved God, loved the holy Church, they would have left most holy Catholics, full Churches, faith that would inspire so many......the blind, and those who are in error......... would say, look how much they love one another.......No! they have left us with heresy, with scandals, with loss of faith of so many, with Judas, with Pharisees..........if, Catholics were really living their faith, starting with the 'Shepherds'......we would convert this Protestant country into a One, Holy Catholic Faith, the ONLY TRUE FAITH. We have not conquered the 'heresy' as did the first Catholic Christians, conquering the evil Roman Empire........instead, the ignorant Catholics are conquered. Just look around, look how country after country is becoming 'faithless'. Rights of men, dignity of men.......has become a religion......as if God had no rights, as if God has not established His Holy Church, to be the Light for all who are in error.......as if there was no need for conversion. As if they forgot that we have to 'work out our salvation with 'fear and trembling'.....Eternity (hell or Heaven) is eternal........ if it was not for the 'traditionals'.........the true Soldiers of Christ........we would all be Protestants. As it is, so many are, and they don't even know it.
Why did we have martyrs, saints, in every age, Inquisition, Crusaders.........if, not to protect the Holy Faith! Today, every stripe is on the same level, as the Holy Catholic Faith. Go to the Catholic book stores, thrift shops, and you find all kinds of heretical bibles, books, Da Vinci Code..........selling as if it was nothing........these Catholics do not even think, that they have to protect their faith, His Truth.........this is the reason, where there is no hatred of heresy, there's no holiness, nothing is 'sacred........From this came the saying, that till today they repeat.......it's not what divides us, but what unites us........an infidel, the Jew, the heretics.....We all pray to the same God......as if God was not Triune God, as if the enemies of the Holy Fathe, do not reject His teachings, to their own interpretations, to their own liking.

"It is better that the truth be known than that scandal be covered up."
    St. Augustine

    Domine Jesu Christe, Miserere Nobis!
